In this series of painting titled Early in the morning I worked a shape through a field of colour, leading to a total image, which was extended to the edges of the canvas to show three-dimensional object on a flat surface. I did not make sketches-I worked directly onto the canvas and the shape developed while I was painting. In this work I was trying to catch an image that showed the mutable conditions of an image that lies between that which I perceive an that I which I feel.
